    Space solar power system is a technology for converting solar energy transmitted to the ground from space into electrical power. With a view to creating a sustainable society, we aim to use clean and inexhaustible solar energy from outside the Earth as a technology whose time has come.

What are the key points of space solar power technology?

Overwhelmingly clean and inexhaustible next-generation energy

■Development of a space solar power system that performs solar power generation on geostationary satellites orbiting at an altitude of 36,000 km, transmits that energy to the ground by laser, and efficiently converts that laser energy to electrical power.

■Research and development with a view to diverse applications in addition to energy transmission from space including use as a power distribution system in microgrids to supply power to mobile equipment such as drones and automobiles and to remote islands, evacuation centers during disasters, etc.

1Research and Development of Photoelectric Conversion Devices for Receiving Laser Energy

Depending on your experience and abilities, you will be in charge of one of the following.

Engage in the research and development of photoelectric-conversion technology for laser energy transmission

  • Exploration and optimization of materials, structures, and systems for improving the photoelectric-conversion efficiency of solar cells for monochromatic light
  • Design, prototyping, and evaluation of photoelectric-conversion panels and power-receiving systems for high-power applications
Ability Knowledge

  • Experience in research and development of photoelectric-conversion elements and PV panels

  • Experience in optical design, device development, and semiconductor development

  • Development of beam quality-control and coupling technologies to achieve efficient and economical energy transmission
  • Development of high-precision tracking and beam-steering technologies to accurately direct laser beams to targets

  • Expert knowledge of long-distance laser energy transmission and experience in system development or numerical simulation
