    Space solar power system is a technology for converting solar energy transmitted to the ground from space into electrical power. With a view to creating a sustainable society, we aim to use clean and inexhaustible solar energy from outside the Earth as a technology whose time has come.

What are the key points of space solar power technology?

Overwhelmingly clean and inexhaustible next-generation energy

■Development of a space solar power system that performs solar power generation on geostationary satellites orbiting at an altitude of 36,000 km, transmits that energy to the ground by laser, and efficiently converts that laser energy to electrical power.

■Research and development with a view to diverse applications in addition to energy transmission from space including use as a power distribution system in microgrids to supply power to mobile equipment such as drones and automobiles and to remote islands, evacuation centers during disasters, etc.

Depending on your experience and abilities, you will be in charge of one of the following.

  • Studies of systems capable of efficient and economical energy transmission (laser)
  • Searching for and optimizing optical focusing systems, laser mediums, and structures for achieving efficient solar-pumped lasers
  • Searching for beam propagation methods for long-distance transmission and optimizing beam shaping
  • Searching for and optimizing materials, structures, and systems for improving the photoelectric conversion efficiency of monochromatic solar cells
  • Searching for hydrogen generation technology using high-intensity lasers
Ability Knowledge

Required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience

  • Specialized knowledge of space transmission of lasers and experience in system development or numerical simulation
  • Experience in specialized technology or system development in relation to laser oscillation and optical systems
  • Experience in research and development of photoelectric conversion devices

Desirable knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience

  • Experience in basic technology and R&D related to space engineering and the development and operation of flying vehicles
  • Good communication skills in English
