The 11th BRL School

Tutorial program for graduate students and early-career researchers.

Overview

The first BRL School was launched in 2002 with the mission of fostering young researchers from around the world. Since then, the school has been held approximately every two years, and this year marks the 11th edition. Over the years, BRL School has grown into an international forum where early-career researchers can learn beyond disciplinary boundaries, exchange ideas, and build new scientific perspectives together.

Starting from the 8th BRL School, the program has been jointly organized with ISNTT in order to strengthen connections with a broader research community and to further encourage presentations and active participation by young researchers themselves. Distinguished professors and leading researchers from various fields are invited as lecturers, offering inspiring talks and engaging discussions that broaden participants' horizons while fostering deep and long-lasting international research networks.

In addition to providing scientifically exciting opportunities, BRL School also offers generous financial support for participants. The school is designed not only as a place for learning, but also as a gateway to future collaborations, friendships, and innovative research. We warmly encourage motivated young researchers from around the world to join us and actively participate in this unique experience.

Schedule

The BRL School will be held in conjunction with ISNTT 2026 from Monday, November 30 to Friday, December 4, 2026. Monday, November 30 will be organized as a Full School Day, featuring special lectures for school participants, laboratory tours, excursions, and other interactive activities designed to encourage communication and networking among young researchers.

From Tuesday, December 1 through Friday, December 4, tutorial lectures for BRL School participants will be scheduled every morning. These sessions, delivered by leading researchers from various fields, will provide valuable opportunities to learn both fundamental concepts and cutting-edge advances in nanodevices and quantum technologies.

In addition, BRL School participants are expected to present their research during the poster sessions held as part of ISNTT 2026. These sessions will provide valuable opportunities for active discussions and interactions not only among young researchers, but also with leading scientists from around the world. Please note that BRL School participants may also be assigned to oral presentations depending on the review results of their submitted abstracts.

A Young Poster Award ceremony will be held during the ISNTT banquet to recognize outstanding student presentations. Eligibility for this award is not limited to BRL School participants; all students presenting posters at ISNTT 2026 will be considered.

Further details regarding the full program and timetable will be announced at a later date.

  • Accommodation including breakfast for 6 nights (check-in on November 29 and check-out on December 5)
  • Lunch during the School and Symposium
  • Registration and banquet fees for ISNTT2026
Requirements:
  • Applicants must be PhD or Master's students
  • An abstract must be submitted to ISNTT2026
  • BRL School Scholars are required to attend all lectures, presentations, and official events included in the School and Symposium programs during the entire ISNTT2026 period
