Turning Research Outcomes into Value -- Shaping the Future through Device Technologies
In July 2026, the Device Innovation Center was renamed the Device Technology Center and began its activities under a new organizational structure.
With the rapid advancement of AI and the ongoing convergence of communications and computing, the performance and functionality required of information and communications infrastructure are becoming increasingly sophisticated. At the same time, reducing power consumption and minimizing environmental impact are important challenges in realizing a sustainable society. Through the development of device technologies that support these changes in society and industry, we are working to address social issues and create new value.
At the Device Technology Center, we are engaged in research and development across a wide range of fields, including computing devices, signal processing devices, optical interconnect devices, and life-assist technologies. In particular, photonics-electronics convergence technology is one of our key initiatives. In collaboration with the Device Technology Laboratories, we are promoting the creation of technologies with a view toward practical application.
Our mission is to connect research outcomes to real-world deployment. By extending the optical technologies that have long supported communications into the field of computing, we aim to create foundational technologies that will drive the evolution of both communications and computing. We are also accelerating development and continuing to refine our technologies by incorporating diverse technologies and expertise through collaboration with partners inside and outside the NTT Group.
The name "Device Technology Center" reflects our mission to deliver research outcomes to society and transform them into new value. As a bridge between research and real-world deployment, we will continue to pursue the possibilities of device technologies and contribute to the realization of a prosperous and sustainable society.
