Greeting
Welcome to Open House 2013!
On behalf of NTT Communication Science Laboratory, I would like to thank all of you for coming to Open House 2013.
In our daily lives, we have been moving from an age of communication by telephone to a new communication age that uses lightweight information devices to handle large quantities of data through ‘clouds.’ It has become necessary to build a new technical infrastructure that connects people and information. This infrastructure should be compatible with the radical changes in the quantity and quality of information we have to deal with in this new communication age.
NTT Communication Science Laboratory has been focusing on this problem in terms of both information science and human science. Moreover, we would like to pass on new ideas and reliable technologies that will benefit next generations.
Open House 2013 will provide an extensive introduction to our research activities. We have 30 exhibits covering four areas—‘Big Data Analysis,’ ‘Innovative Computing,’ ‘Media and Communication,’ and ‘Human Science.’ There will also be four research lectures introducing the latest research trends in these areas. This is a modest plan for the two days, but we will be happy if your visit proves both enjoyable and useful.
Eisaku Maeda,
Director, NTT Communication Science Laboratories
