固体中の電子が示す様々な量子力学的な効果を研究しています。量子相関エレクトロニクスという新しい分野を確立し、高感度センシング技術や量子計算機への応用を探ります。

量子固体物性研究グループでは、電子がもつ波動性や重ね合わせ、スピンといった量子力学的性質に加え、電子間の相互作用によって生じる多体効果や相関効果に注目し、それらを半導体や原子層物質のへテロ構造・ナノ構造を用いて生成・制御することで、ばらばらの電子では得られない新しい機能をもった量子デバイスや極限的な量子計測技術を開拓することを目指しています。そのために超高純度ヘテロ構造の結晶成長や電子線描画を用いた微細加工、極低温や強磁場、高速パルス測定、低温走査型トンネル顕微鏡・分光など、さまざまな技術を駆使しています。
