About Us

Introduction

By developing "data-centric infrastructure (DCI)" with low latency and power consumption through the application of photonics-electronics convergence devices (the core technology of 6G/IOWN), we aim to integrate mobile and fixed networks and computing. To achieve this goal, we will promote cooperation between the basic research of NTT Laboratories and the development capabilities of domestic and global vendors.
The IOWN Integrated Innovation Center consists of a sub-center that formulates development and dissemination strategies, and three sub-centers with strengths in software, networks, and devices. We will contribute to solving social issues not only in Japan but also around the world by accelerating R&D in collaboration with a wide range of technical fields.

The IOWN Integrated Innovation Center was launched in July 2021 by concentrating the development resources of NTT Laboratories with the aim of strengthening R&D capabilities to realize 6G/IOWN. It consists of four sub-centers: the IOWN Product Design Center, which achieves and disseminates the IOWN concept; the Software Innovation Center, which promotes research and development of innovative computing platforms for the realization of IOWN; the Network Innovation Center, which embodies the IOWN concept and is responsible for research and development of innovative networks/access systems that support integration of fixed-mobile communication networks; and the Device Innovation Center, which promotes the development of photonics-electronics convergence devices and information processing devices that support IOWN, and devices that are friendly to people and the global environment.

We aim to be a game changer in the world of technology and to redevelop Japan's technological capabilities by concentrating and integrating technologies cultivated in various fields such as component development, network configuration, and software infrastructure technology. The spread of ICT technology is accelerating globalization and further increasing its importance to network and information processing infrastructure. We believe that collaboration with global vendors is essential, and we will accelerate research and development by actively utilizing the IOWN Global Forum and pursuing joint development with each vendor.

The IOWN Integrated Innovation Center works toward the goal of providing concrete new value to the world through research and development that brings together advanced technologies.
