About Us

Introduction

NTT Access Network Service Systems Laboratories is mainly engaged in research and development of five elemental technologies related to the access network that connects customers and NTT buildings.

We are engaged in research and development centered on "Access System Technology" that provides high-speed, high-capacity, and low-cost optical services; "Wireless Access Technology" for post-5G next-generation wireless systems; "Optical Fiber Access Technology" for realizing sophisticated and economical access networks and smart operation and maintenance; "Infrastructure Technology" that realizes smart operation and maintenance of communication infrastructure equipment; and "Operation Technology" that creates new work styles from the cycle of information collection, analysis, and improvement making full use of AI/IoT.

We provide an access network that allows anyone to connect naturally at any time without special awareness and contribute to solving social issues.

Under the mission to "realize a smart society by continuing to create and support services through research on cutting-edge access network technology," we are engaged in research and development with the goal of being a leader in both the world's most advanced technologies and the most advanced fields.

As our main initiatives, we are furthering research and development in the following fields. Access System Technology: photonic gateway technology that enables low-latency end-to-end transfer not dependent on specific protocols. Wireless Access Technology: multi-wireless proactive control technology (Cradio®) that realizes a communication environment in which the user is not aware of the wireless network, and satellite MIMO/sensing technology for ultra-coverage. Optical Fiber Access Technology: spatial multiplex optical fiber transmission technology that overcomes the limitations of existing optical fibers and network configuration technology that aims to provide flexible core wire resources. Infrastructure technology: smart operation of infrastructure equipment based on a 4D digital platform that incorporates predictive maintenance and sensing using AI. Operation technology: self-evolving zero-touch operation technology that adapts to changes by establishing collection, analysis, judgment, and control cycle management through autonomous expansion and self-learning by network AI groups that follow external information.

Using these fundamental technologies, we will contribute to the realization of a smart society by promoting the implementation of the IOWN concept and to digital transformation by working on the improvement of network functions, smarter operations, and the creation of new value through utilizing our assets.
