Kouta Tateno was born in Tochigi, Japan, on January 25, 1968.  He received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in science (chemistry) from the University of Tokyo, Tokyo, Japan in 1991, 1993, and 2001, respectively.  In 1993, he joined NTT Opto-electronics Laboratories. From 2003, he has been in NTT Basic Research Laboratories.

He is a member of the Japan Society of Applied Physics and the Electrochemical Society of Japan.

Research Interest

  • Nanostructures based on semiconductor nanowires
  • Semiconductor optical devices on Si circuits for OEIC
  • Crystal growth for nano-devices with small source materials and power by bottom-up approach

Artificial photosynthesis is also my interest. Nanowires should play an important role in photoelectric CO2 reduction.
