At NTT Space Environment and Energy Laboratories, with the aim of achieving NTT Group's Environment and Energy Vision of zero environmental impact, we are working on creating next-generation energy technologies such as nuclear fusion and space solar power, and technologies that enable resilient environmental adaptation.
To proactively respond to large-scale disaster caused by recent climate extremes, and to other crises such as pandemics, it is necessary to make dynamic innovations from a broad perspective of the space environment including the Earth, not only in science and technology but also in meteorology, resource cycles, and biodiversity.
To this end, we aim to revitalize the global environment and realize a sustainable and inclusive society through innovation from the following perspectives: realization and utilization of next-generation, overwhelmingly clean energy sources; sustainable system technologies including CO2 conversion; and proactive ESG management and environmental adaptation.
NTT Space Environment and Energy Laboratories were established on July 1, 2020, with the aim of creating innovative technologies for the regeneration of the global environment and the realization of a sustainable and inclusive society.
Although this is the first NTT Laboratories to include the word "Space," its task is not to research space itself, but rather to look at the Earth from the perspective of its space environment including the sun, and to conduct research on reduction of environmental impact and environmental adaptation from a dynamic perspective.
In order to contribute to zero environmental impact, we are researching optimal nuclear fusion control technology, space solar power generation technology, energy recycling technology, and CO2 conversion technology (involving the application of green genome editing). For environmental adaptation, we are researching ESG management science and technology, environment and socioeconomic nexus forecasting technology and global environment future prediction technology for predicting the future of space, and technology for proactive environmental adaptation based on predicted results (lightning control/capture, cosmic ray barriers).
Since we are actively working on completely new and challenging themes that need researchers skilled in a wide variety of fields, we will not only promote the recruitment of both new and seasoned researchers, but we will also actively promote and expand our collaboration with other organizations, including joint research with related institutions.
Please look forward to the future growth of NTT Space Environment and Energy Laboratories.
